A little before I went away, I was called out to see an old dog. He was a big fellow, a husky type, just clipped for summer (they always look a bit funny after that!). His mum was worried about him… He had been licking one spot on front of his left foot for 2 weeks, and was limping on the foot. Then he was limping on the other front foot. The outside pad on R his right front foot seemed to have swollen, and he was walking sort of sideways on that foot. He had gone downhill for a few days before this. He seemed a bit quieter, but is still quite active. Had a big day a while back, was slower the next day. And he was sleeping more.
As soon as I saw him move, I could see that he had severe, awful arthritis – he was as stiff as a board, and couldn’t stand well – he was drooping in the hind end after only half a minute or so, and then quite quickly had to flop down. He had a happy grin, though, and was keen to meet me. I could see that he was an intelligent, wonderful old fellow. The outside toe of his right foot was very swollen, hard, and painful to touch. He was very sore and reactive to gentle touch all along his spine.
His mum didn’t have a lot of money to spend – I explained to her that I was concerned that the hard, swollen toe may be a tumour, and that his arthritis was very bad indeed. After a lot of discussion, she elected to put him on Green Mussel Extract, and CBD (cannabis) oil. I gave him an accupressure/WEBB session, and also left some strong painkillers in case of need. He was in such a state that if he didn’t respond to treatment, putting him to sleep would probably be necessary.
Then, just today, I got a text…
“He has responded really well to the acupressure and my daily back massage, the CBD oil, and the green mussel tablets. He is running around everywhere, and has been for a month now. People are asking me “How old is our puppy?” Just thought you might like to know and Thankyou – I am recommending you to other people in the area…”
Very heart warming to hear that this old soul is feeling so much better!
