FAQ

Q:
What areas do you travel to?
a:

I look after pets in the Northern Rivers- particularly Murwillumbah, Uki, Nimbin, Mullumbimby and surrounding regions. If you live further away (both near and far), I can always do a consultation via skype, and post you whatever holistic medicines your pet may need.

Remember, I am always at the end of the phone, and more than happy to answer any questions you have about keeping your pet well.

Q:
What kind of animals do you treat?
a:

I am a small animal vet. Dogs and cats are the bulk of my practice, though I do see some small fluffies; rats, rabbits, guinea pigs and so on are all pets I can help you with. Snakes too, as long as they are non-venomous.

I don’t tend farm animals (cows, pigs, goats, llamas, alpacas etc).

I grew up mustering and competing on horses, and I do offer a limited equine service- only Whole Energy Body Balance Sessions, help mistreated/emotionally wounded horses and offer behavioural/training sessions. I do NOT do attend sick horses, do stitch ups, castrations, anaesthetics, or administer antibiotics or any pharmacy medicines to horses.

Q:
Do you offer after hours/emergency services?
a:

I offer a limited after hours service. Please call me – I will call back when I can. Mobile coverage can be a bit spotty where I live, and during the day I may be out of range and on the road. Sometimes I don’t get messages until the next morning. If you have a severe emergency (eg snake bite, tick paralysis, broken bones etc) contact a local veterinary hospital, or the emergency center on the gold coast immediately. If the problem is less urgent, ring me, and if I don’t get back to you in a timely fashion, please seek help elsewhere .  If I attend your pet out of working hours, there will be an after hours fee in addition to my normal rates. If you have an emergency during my working hours, I will cancel and reschedule my routine calls to make sure your pet gets the attention needed ASAP.

Q:
Do you carry medicines in your van?
a:

I carry all the holistic and pharmacy medicines I need in my van, and can dispense them for your pet at the visit.

Q:
How much does a visit cost?
a:

Many clients from my previous home visit practice in Townsville have told me that my rates are very reasonable. I keep my prices as affordable as I can, and I have a sliding scale of fees, with a discount for pensioners, single parents and anyone who may be in genuine financial difficulty. Please call me, tell me what the problem with your pet is, and then I can give you an estimate of what the cost may be, and see what I can do to help. I am more interested in looking after pets that need help, than in money.

Q:
Do you desex pets?
a:

The only pets I can safely desex in your home are male cats. All the rest will need to go to a veterinary hospital to be desexed.
